Sergeant Amichai Yaakov Vanino, age 22, from Katzrin, was a commander in the Maglan Unit. He fell in action on October 7, 2023. Amichai leaves behind seven siblings.
In a note he wrote the day before the operation in which he fell, Amichai said, “We are the servants of our people. Nothing is of our own accord; we are commanded and sent out—to be as professional as possible. Personal considerations are set aside in the face of helping Israel. We are focused on our training. The laziness and fatigue are nothing compared to the recognition that you chose us. We answer with eternal courage—here we are.”
