Staff Sgt. Yair Nifousy

Yair, who served as a sniper in the 101st battalion, was critically injured during a battle with terrorists in Gaza – and less than a day later, he died of his wounds.

His teachers spoke of him: “Yair aspired to lead a life of action and passion. He was a modest, shy boy, who was very beloved and sought brotherhood and kindness, homeliness and friendship.” They noted that Yair “knew to appreciate and recognize his friends, their skills, and virtues” and was “social and involved with friendships, yet knew to value the tradition of his grandfather’s house.” In his WhatsApp status, Yair wrote “everything is for the best.” At the high school where he studied, they said their beloved student “ended his short life proud, upright, and straightforward. We will miss him dearly.”
