Sgt. Adi Danan

Shir Levi, Adi’s aunt, told Walla! that “My Adi was all heart. He had sparkling eyes like jewels, just like his name. He was always loving and hugging and was there for others. I was very close to him, we did everything together, like siblings. He loved to exercise, loved basketball, taking pictures at sunsets, listening to music, especially Yonatan Kalimi. He and his twin sister were the best of friends in the world. He was always protective of her and of his younger sister.”

  1. . . . they were young,
    Straight of limb, true of eye, steady and aglow.
    They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted;
    They fell with their faces to the foe.

    They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
    Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
    At the going down of the sun and in the morning
    We will remember them.

    This segment of For the Fallen by Laurence Binyon (1914) is always read at Remembrance Day observance in Canada. We will remember you.

  2. Dear Danan family,

    Thank you for your beautiful description of Adi. We will remember Adi for his courage and his love for the State of Israel and the Jewish people but thanks to your message we will also remember his joyous life, his wide ranging passions and his devotion to his beloved aunt. May God avenge his blood and bring comfort to you among the mourners of Tzion and Yerushalayim.
