Roi Marom

Roi’s friend eulogized him, saying, “Roi was a man of values and dedication, excelling at everything and always smiling. I loved him deeply. He was secular, and I am religious; our worldviews were opposite, but it didn’t stop him from promising to escort me to my wedding canopy. That’s how close we were. Since all our original team was fighting in Gaza, I was the only one from his team to eulogize him. I swore to honor his memory as long as I could, and the first time I put on officer ranks on my shoulders was at his grave, covered in flowers from his loved ones, wearing the unit’s shirt and the Israeli flag. Roi dreamed of dedicating his life to working with at-risk youth and helping the weak. The last thing he said before entering Gaza was, ‘If I die, do something for at-risk youth, but I’m not dying. I’m coming back to do it myself.’ I’m sending this knowing you and expecting to fulfill Roi’s life dream together. When the fighting ends, we’ll meet, think, and plan. Thank you for being in touch over the years.”
