Omri Ahrak

Zephaniah, father to the late Omri, spoke about his son: “Omri was incredibly passionate about life. He served meaningful military service in the Givati Brigade, then took a long trip like everyone does, came back, and began studying computer science to build himself up. Two weeks ago, he found a job at one of the companies in Tel Aviv, where he was warmly welcomed. He was a child you couldn’t help but love—always smiling, always polite, and always seeing the other person. Even if he was in the middle of an emotional storm, he would always find the time to look at you and say ‘good morning, how are you.’”

According to the father, the family’s last contact with Omri was on the Friday evening before the festival: “On Friday evening, this wonderful child called his mother and said: ‘Happy holiday, I love you, I’m going to a party somewhere in the south.’ The last thing we heard about him was that at 7:00 a.m. on Saturday, one of his friends who went with him called his mother and said, ‘There’s chaos here, we’re getting out.’ From bits of information, we understood that they got into a car. We gathered that they were likely led into a trap by Hamas, who had disguised themselves as police, directing them to a place where people were waiting with firearms, and this is likely how he met his end.”
