Master Sgt. Rabbi Naaran Haim Eshchar

IDF

Master Sergeant Rabbi Naaran Eshchar from Shadmot Mechola was the son of Ofer and Rachel. He was married to Yifat Tzuf and father to Be’eri and Kedem. Brother of Sagi, Ohad, and Talia Israel. He was a tank commander in Battalion 71 of the 188 Brigade (Ozvat Barak). A teacher at the Sdeh Eliyahu yeshiva, he was a humble man, a wise student, who sang and played music everywhere, spreading his pleasantness and faith to his students and everyone around him. About four months before the war, Naaran donated a kidney to a stranger. Initially, the IDF refused to draft him for reserve duty, but he insisted and after a struggle, was enlisted. Naaran was severely injured in the north by an overturning tank, and died from his injuries a week later. After his death, his organs saved four more lives. His family and friends played music at his funeral and talked about his love for music: ‘The violin and the piano were tools for you to create worlds and revive souls.’
