He was eulogized: “I can’t believe I’m writing farewell words for someone who did so many crazy things in life and came out unscathed. Benji, how many experiences we went through together, how many shared goals we had. You changed my life… You, who always aimed high and wanted to be ‘at least’ the Chief of Staff, while I hadn’t even thought about the first draft order. You, who dreamed of Shayetet 13 and infected me with the idea, you who dragged me every day to train in the sea and made me run, you who drew me into a world of fitness and love for our wonderful country. Every time someone talks to me about high school, I remember every Thursday evening when we used to sleep at Dardar’s, how we used to go buy tobacco and smoke and roll cigarettes with a joint filter because who knew how to smoke anyway and we thought it was cool, we drank, crashed on the same bed and in the morning you took me home until the Friday training when you picked me up in the afternoon. The last time we were at Kibbutz Be’eri, we went on a bike trip, of course, you were always ahead and I tried to close the gap. We dreamed before the army of doing the Israel Trail, and of course, you prepared an equipment list – I read the equipment list at least twice just to see that you really wrote in the list that you want to buy an alpaca to carry.”
