Lt. Nathaniel Menachem Eitan

Lt. Nathaniel Menachem Eitan, 22, from Jerusalem, a cadet in the ‘Gafen’ battalion, the officers’ school, who served as a fighter in Unit 669, fell in battle in the northern Gaza Strip. Emanuel, Nathaniel’s friend, eulogized him: “You were a rare tree in the landscapes of our country. A tree with deep roots of love for the people and the country. The salt of the earth, a perfect son, a perfect brother and friend. People like you are missing.”
Halel, Nathaniel’s girl friend to whom he planned to propose on her birthday which was the day after the funeral, mourned him in tears: “My angel, hero of all the people of Israel. I appreciate you so much and am proud of you in ways I can’t describe. You told me that your life can’t be normal except with a mission. That’s how you were in life and in your death. You fell on Kidush Hashem for the defense of the land that you loved so much.
