Lotan Abir

He was eulogized: “I met Lotan somewhere in northern Colombia, in an insane location on a hill covered in green jungle. We were both starting to taste what freedom meant. I had been in the hostel for two days, so I gave him a soft landing, and from the first smile, I knew, okay, he’s one of us. He had something radiant, simple, light, and good. Qualities of a leader, but one who doesn’t try to be one. Very quickly, he was the glue that connected groups upon groups there. Within a few hours, he was running the place. The kind of person who enters your heart. Even as we split to different destinations, in every country on my trip until the last, I met him, time after time. Sometimes briefly, sometimes for longer. And every time, I breathed in his energy, because being in his presence so clearly made you feel lucky right then and there. Lotan Abir, as your name suggests, you were chivalrous. We came to say goodbye to you, and it was unbearably hard, painful, we screamed and cried, and listened to music together just as you would have wanted. Our hearts refuse to believe. May your memory be blessed.”
