Lior Weitzman


At the time of his death, Lior was 32 years old, married to Limor, and the father of 4-year-old Kfir. He was the youngest in a family of five. Lior worked as a sound editor and soundtrack designer in Tel Aviv and had been a member of the Sderot Front Runners group for about three years. He was a triathlete and runner who participated in numerous competitions under Team Alpha. Most recently, he competed in the Ashdod Triathlon. He was training for both the Half Ironman and Yisraman competitions. Lior was scheduled to compete on November 3, 2023, in the Half Ironman and on January 26, 2024, in the Half Yisraman, with plans to eventually complete the full distance for both competitions. On Saturday, October 7, 2023, he went out for his morning training ride on Highway 34, where he was shot and killed.

    There are no words for the tragedy of Lior’s death. His son should have him to grow up with, and his wife should have had so many more years with him. His last actions were so peaceful and in the service of such healthy discipline. We wish there were any way to truly express our sympathy to you, but the entire worldwide Jewish community mourns Lior alongside you and we send you courage and strength to get through this unthinkable loss.
