“He was my younger brother, born almost 17 years after me,” his sister Christina mourned. “I raised him almost like my own child. When mom was at work, I looked after him and raised him.” Iliya studied in a police program at Nir HaEmek High School and dreamed of serving in the Border Police, but was ultimately placed in Givati. “He really loved the army, he was really, really passionate about his service.”
