Ilan Avraham

“My dad, my mom, and another friend of hers took refuge from the terrorists in a fortified area. A group of terrorists cornered them and demanded at gunpoint and with constant gunfire that they come out. My dad made an unbelievable and heroic decision. He kissed my mom goodbye and stepped outside, intending for the terrorists to capture him and take him hostage.
His thought was that they would likely be content with just capturing him, and indeed they did take him with them. But he didn’t just leave in their place; in a split-second decision, he also opened the trunk of the car so they could escape into it.
One terrorist remained to guard my mom and her friend. When he led them out, they simply ran into the trunk that my dad had opened a few seconds earlier, while the terrorist fired at them incessantly. Fortunately, police arrived who fought for them and saved them.”
