He is survived by his wife, Esther, and six children.
His widow Esther mourned: “Aside from being a man of Torah and science, Gideon was a unique family man. He made sure to take the children to school in the mornings and spent afternoons studying and playing with them. He loved to travel with them and teach them about spirituality and gneral knowledge. He did all these with great humility, never complaining. My pain is immense, and his loss is deeply felt, yet we are proud of his sacrifice for the sanctity of God and the land. I pray for a great victory, unity among our people, and complete redemption.”
