Chanaleh was severely injured in the attack on Be’eri and passed away two weeks later. Those who loved her say she was a marvelous storyteller. She had read countless books to countless children who grew up to be parents and grandparents themselves. She had a charming collection of bookmarks from around the world, testifying to her deep love for books. After retiring, she devoted herself to her joyous venture: establishing the kibbutz’s children’s library.
Her grandson, Omer, wrote in her memory: “Grandma Chana was the most optimistic person in the world. Even in the hardest moments, when asked how she was, she would say, ‘Tomorrow will be better.'”

Dear family of Chana,
Please accept my deepest condolences for your loss of Chana. She must have been a remarkable women, full of joyous optimism, a lover of children and books. I am an American Jew. Although I never met Chana I do share in the grief that you and all of Klal Yisrael feel that Chana was taken from us too early, too brutally. May you be comforted among the mourners of Zion and Yerushalayim.
