Ram Meir Batito, aged 19, was a hero. He was standing guard in Kissufim, on that cursed Saturday afternoon of October 7 when he was killed by a mortar shell. His father, Ophir Danino, speaks of an exceptional student who achieved so much in his life, tragically cut short at just 19 years old. Ram even managed to call his mother and tell her how much he loved her. In a chilling recording, he told her, “Mom, there are more than a thousand terrorists here. Just know, no matter what happens, I will fight to the end to defend the country. I’m sorry, and I love you all of you.”
